Worthy bookmark: Cell size and scale

If you’ve ever had trouble visualizing a nanometer, much less a picometer, here’s a “sliding scale” (interactive) demonstration of the differences in size and scale between various biological entities such as seeds and beans on one end and mitochondria, genes, and atoms on the other end.

Developed by the University of Utah Genetic Science Learning Center, it’s
a beautifully constructed visualization worthy of use by every science student – and not a few old fogies who don’t mind having their perceptions adjusted.
