Large Hadron Collider delivers collisions
Congratulations are in order for the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC). After a prolonged, arduous gestation that ended on Monday (November 23, 2009), the first atomic particle collisions were recorded. Having finally got its protons in order, it’s now on to the lengthy testing and gradual ramping-up of the acceleration speed. Sometime next year, the LHC will hopefully begin to produce novel results.
