Update: Google’s use of a ‘quantum computer’

Chris Lee over at Ars-Technica has some background observations on the story about Google’s use of the D-Wave system for analyzing images. Google doesn’t give a damn if it is a quantum computer or not, just that it works, and works better than existing systems. [Source: ArsTechnica]

One of the many things that’s easy for (adult) humans and very difficult for computers is image recognition. Take twenty thousand pictures of a street, half with cars and half without.
